Kamaru Usman Addresses Rumors of Injury During UFC 294 Open Workouts

Kamaru Usman, known as “The Nigerian Nightmare,” has addressed rumours circulating about his supposed injury during the UFC 294 open workouts in Abu Dhabi. These rumors emerged after a video went viral on social media, showing what appeared to be an awkward landing as Usman scooped and slammed his training partner, UFC lightweight Justin Gaethje.

Gaethje quickly tried to dispel the rumours, but the Internet has a way of keeping such stories alive. Some UFC fans even suggested that Gaethje was crafting a strategic narrative to cover up an injury. Others accused him of lying to protect his training partner.

Usman, however, is frustrated with these rumors and set the record straight. In a video on YouTube, the former welterweight champion said, “Guys, this is crazy.” He expressed his disbelief at how quickly people jump on news and media without verifying the facts. Usman pointed out that he and Justin were on a stage in front of thousands of people in a mall during the open workouts, making it impossible for anyone to hear their conversation.

He went on to say, “How stupid. Just dumb. If my knee was hurt, why would I get up and (continue) hitting mitts? Oh my God. People believe anything you put on this internet. Anything. Any (expletive) thing. Whoever that was, stop it. Stop with the clickbait. (I) did not say that. Clearly, I’m fine. Dummies: I’m fine.”

Kamaru Usman’s response makes it clear that the rumors of his injury are baseless, and he wants to put an end to the spread of false information.
