Kabiru Dogo, Commends Team’s Performance in 1-1 Draw with Akwa United

Former Champions Prove to be a Valuable Challenge

Head coach Kabiru Dogo expressed his satisfaction with the team’s overall performance in the aftermath of Kwara United’s hard-fought 1-1 draw against Akwa United.

The coach acknowledged the significant contributions of players Adeyinka and Sadeeq, both of whom showcased exceptional skills against their former team.

Dogo praised the collective effort of his team in securing a valuable point away from home, highlighting the outstanding performance of the goalkeeper.

In a post-match interview, he emphasized the importance of having players familiar with the opposing team’s style, creating a sense of familiarity and comfort on the field.

“I want to congratulate my team for achieving this success because it is not an easy task. But today, they were able to do the necessary things to get the points. Even my goalkeeper was outstanding today.”

Reflecting on the team’s current status, Dogo stressed the ongoing process of building a new and youthful squad.

He emphasized the need for patience, acknowledging that this team differs from the previous season’s lineup. The coach is gradually integrating young and less experienced players, optimistic about the team’s promising future.

“It’s all about patience. It is a new team. This is not the team we had last season. We try to build up young players and little experienced players on the side. Gradually they are picking up and I believe that the team has a future as far as I am concerned.”

Addressing the upcoming challenges, Dogo sees the draw against the former champions as a morale booster. He believes that securing a point against formidable opponents sets a positive tone for the team’s next match at home against Doma United.

“It is a moral booster for us playing against the former champions. Picking a point here is a very good tonic. It would help boost most of our team towards our next home game against Doma united, another tough team. But I believe we are going to consolidate on that.”

Coach Kabiru Dogo remains confident that Kwara United will continue to build on this performance and consolidate their position in subsequent games.
