Nigeria’s men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball teams have advanced to the finals of the 2026 IWBF Africa 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball Commonwealth Games Qualifiers in Luanda, Angola, setting up a decisive showdown against South Africa.

Thus keeping alive their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

However, South Africa heads into the finals with a psychological edge, having defeated Nigeria in both categories during the group stage on March 25.

The South African men claimed a 10–5 victory, while their women’s team edged Nigeria 5–2, maintaining a perfect 5-0 record.

Despite those setbacks, Nigeria has shown resilience and consistency, with standout contributions from players such as Shittu Musbau and Olabisi Ijigbamigbe, who have been instrumental in the teams’ progression.

The tournament, running from March 22 to March 27 in Luanda, serves as a key qualification pathway for African teams aiming to compete at the Commonwealth Games.

With both titles and qualification spots on the line, Nigeria will be aiming for redemption against a dominant South African side in what promises to be thrilling finals in both the men’s and women’s events.
