Jumoke Adekoye has just delivered Nigeria’s third gold medal of the evening at the 2025 African Wrestling Championships in Casablanca, securing a dominant 11–0 victory over Rahma Bediwy of Egypt in the 59kg women’s final.
The win was a perfect display of Adekoye’s skill, precision, and determination. From the opening whistle, she took control of the match, never allowing her opponent a chance to score. Her commanding performance has now added another gold to Nigeria’s rapidly growing medal tally.
“I’m overwhelmed with joy! This gold is for Nigeria and everyone who has supported me. The journey has been long, but this moment makes it all worth it,” Adekoye said with a beaming smile after the win.
Her victory came after earlier golds from Khadijat Idris (55kg) and Mercy Genesis (50kg), making this a truly golden evening for Nigeria as they aim to secure even more medals before the night is through.
The Nigerian team has five more finalists still in the hunt for gold, and the excitement is far from over.
