Jumez International FC Set Target Ahead Surulere Regional League

Many grassroots football clubs in Lagos are coming to a football competition with a target. Some club football owners always boast they would win the football competition before it kicks off while others feel that reaching a particular stage of the tournament is their main target.

When our correspondent met a chairman of Jumez International Football Club of Yaba, Frank Orji to speak on his team’s readiness for the forthcoming Surulere regional league scheduled to hold later in the year at the legacy pitch of national stadium, Lagos, the soft-spoken football administrator said his team are among the teams that would qualify for super eight of the tournament.

Orji admitted that the forthcoming Surulere regional league would be tough than the last edition saying that his team are well prepared for future challenges. Orji said he has given his coaching crew a target of reaching super eight before thinking of winning the title.

“Every football club owner wants to win the title which is not bad but my first target for the club is to reach super eight and after that, we can be talking of winning the title which is possible,” he said.
Commenting on the team’s performance in the last season, Orji said his team made it to super eight and ready to repeat the feat again in this year’s edition.

“Let me say this to the benefit of our fans, we also want to win Surulere regional league but our main focus is to get to super eight first. It is when we are in a better position on the table, I can be talking of winning the title. Presently the league has not started and it is difficult for me to be boasting. If you ask me after four or five of our matches about our chances in the league, then I can provide an answer either we will win the league or not,” said Orji who revealed that his players are ready for the league.

Asked which team can make super eight among the participating teams, Orji quickly said all the participating teams are good for super eight but noted that only the teams that prepared well would feature in the super eight and win the title.
