Authority Football Academy midfielder Olayanju Isaiah has set his sights on lifting the FEMMCO 01 International Football Championship August Camping trophy after helping his side secure a place in the final with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over D’Hola FA in the semi-final.
Speaking exclusively to SPORTS247 after the decisive victory, the promising youngster expressed his delight at his team’s performance and his own contribution to their progression into the final.
“First of all, I am very happy and pleased with how we qualified for the final of the competition. Today, I feel very happy with my performance and that of my teammates,” Isaiah said.
With the final now approaching, the young footballer believes Authority FA can produce an even better display as they chase the championship trophy.
“Our fans should be expecting an improved performance and ultimately the trophy. We would love to hoist the trophy after the match,” he added.
For Isaiah, however, winning the competition would mean more than simply adding another medal to his football journey. The youngster revealed that making his parents proud is one of his biggest motivations.
“I would like to make my parents proud with my success in football,” he said.
Asked whether his parents fully support his football ambitions, Isaiah responded confidently: “Yes.”
The young player also revealed his admiration for Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham, naming the midfielder as his football role model.
“Jude Bellingham,” Isaiah said when asked about the player he looks up to.
His admiration for Bellingham also aligns with his support for Real Madrid, with the youngster confirming that he is a Madrid fan.
Looking beyond the FEMMCO championship, Isaiah has ambitions of representing Nigeria at the highest level. Asked whether he would welcome an opportunity to play for the national team, his response was unequivocal.
“Yes, I would love to play for the national team of Nigeria,” he stated.
With Authority FA now through to the final, Isaiah and his teammates have one more hurdle to overcome. For the young footballer, victory would provide a memorable conclusion to the tournament while bringing him one step closer to his dream of building a successful football career and making his family proud.
