The handlers of the Nigeria U-20 team has reason to celebrate as European clubs have finally begun to release invited players.
The technical crew and the NFF are doing everything to ensure more of its foreign-based U-21 talents link up with camp in Abuja ahead of the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the effort is yielding fruitful results.

Not fewer than seven of the invited foreign-based U-21 players are expected to report to the Flying Eagles’ Abuja camp in the coming week to join the few ones who are already in the camp.
Among the confirmed names are Sani Sulaiman, Victor Orakpo, Daniel Daga, Orsheer Achchi, Ayuma, and several other regular starters for their respective clubs.
An insider source confirmed to Sports247 that the National Football Federation (NFF) has successfully resolved the release complications, stating, “the issue of non-release of these players has been sorted out by the NFF and some of them will hit the camp from this weekend while others will arrive on Monday.”
Coach Aliyu Zubair is said to be “super excited” by the development, as the squad fine-tunes preparations ahead of the tournament.
The 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup will take place in Chile from 27 September to 19 October 2025 .
Nigeria has been drawn into Group F, alongside Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and Norway .
Nigeria vs Norway on 30 September 2025, played at Estadio Fiscal in Talca .
Nigeria vs Saudi Arabia on 3 October 2025 at the same venue while the team will take on Colombia in their last game.
With the European-based contingent set to arrive imminently, Nigeria’s preparations promise to gain both momentum and cohesion. Coach Zubair’s excitement reflects the country’s high hopes: a fully together squad ready to make a deep run in Chile.
The coach is preparing the team to win Nigeria’s first FIFA U20 World Cup after two failed attempts in the final of 1989 and 2005 editions.
