Joy and Reward in Benin: Nasarawa United Pocket ₦900,000 Cash Bonus After Stunning Away Win Over Bendel Insurance

Nasarawa United players had every reason to smile after their impressive 1–0 away victory over Bendel Insurance in Benin on Saturday evening, as a combined cash reward of ₦900,000 was splashed on the team for their outstanding performance.

Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, led the charge in rewarding the Solid Miners by redeeming his ₦500,000 pledge to the players immediately after the game.

The gesture, he said, was to appreciate their hard work and to motivate them to maintain their winning momentum in the ongoing 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

In an inspiring show of solidarity, the Chairman of Nasarawa United FC, visibly impressed with the team’s grit and determination in the fiercely contested match, added ₦200,000 to the players’ bonus.

The goodwill train didn’t stop there, as Peter “Pepsy” Anyebe, a staunch supporter of the club and sports infrastructure manager, further boosted the team’s morale with another ₦200,000 cash donation.

The total largesse, amounting to ₦900,000, came as a pleasant surprise to the squad, following a heroic performance that saw substitute Garba Mohammed score a dramatic stoppage-time winner — his second goal of the season — to hand Nasarawa United a crucial away victory and extend their lead at the top of the NPFL table.

The win marks the Solid Miners’ second consecutive triumph on the road and solidifies their status as the team to beat this season, with 16 points from seven matches — five wins, one draw, and one loss.

With spirits high and their unbeaten run intact in six of seven outings, Nasarawa United will return to Lafia to face Rangers International FC of Enugu on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Lafia City Stadium, where they will look to continue their remarkable form and possibly earn more of such rewarding incentives.
