Former England-based ex-boxer, Peter Oboh has advised Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxing champion of the world, Anthony Olaseni Oluwafemi Joshua to get a major fight in United States of America, in order to build up his status as renowned pugilist.
Sports247.ng can report that Oboh is of a view that Joshua’s status as a historic world-class champion will not be cemented until he gets a super-fight in God’s Own Country.
With that in mind, the former British and World Boxing Association (WBA) Inter-Continental light heavyweight champion urged Joshua to get a fight in America.
Oboh parried talk that Joshua’s camp are fending off offers for the IBF, WBA and WBO champion to fight in America, but stressed that ‘AJ’ must make a change to his plans.
Oboh stressed: “I agree with Sugar Ray Leonard, who said that Joshua must have to fight in America to prove to the world that he is not a local champion
“If Joshua does that, it will differentiate him from other European champions who always dread America.
“He has nothing really to lose. Fighting in America would give him a different aura and put a stamp to his unified titles and put paid to all the talks about him being afraid to lose. I believe he can put them to shame.”
