Josh Maja Will Go For Only £4m – Sunderland

Sunderland of England have declared that they will not allow their want away Nigerian striker, Josh Maja leave this month unless they get a fee of £4m for his transfer.

However, sports247.ng can report that The Black Cats’ evaluation of the former Super Eagles invitee is double what English Premier League strugglers, Cardiff City are ready to pay to get him.

The free-scoring Sunderland attacker has caught the eye of Cardiff, who are said to be ready to make a £2m offer for him, but Sunderland want £4m for the striker, who has notched 16 goals this term.

The 20-year-old Maja is out of contract at the end of this season and has rejected the offer of a new deal from the League One club, yet The Black Cats have not given up hope of keeping him.

However, Sunderland are still under pressure to sell Maja, with Cardiff City joining Celtic of Scotland and three German clubs – VfB Stuttgart, FC Cologne and VfL Wolfsburg – interested in buying the lad.

This means Sunderland face the risk losing Maja for free or for minimal compensation in the summer, hence their desire to cash in on him now.

The Black Cats’ manager, Jack Ross has indicated that Maja could be sold before staying at Sunderland on loan until the end of the season.
