Jo Bonfere, Kick To Glory, Others Congratulate Amokachi

Congratulatory messages have begone to fly in from left, right and center to one time super eagles attacker and UEFA champions league first ever goalscorer Daniel Amokachi. President Muhammadu Buhari has earlier in the week appointed the ex-Super Eagles star, his special assistant on sports, sports247 reports.

The former Besiktas star’s new appointment is coming about five months after he was initially named as Nigeria’s Football Ambassador by President Buhari.

Coach of the historic dream team of 1996, Bonfere Jo, has also hailed The Bull for the tremendous achievements in the round leather game so far. Talking about the passion Amokachi has for producing results, he recalls the moment he contributed a lot in winning first Africa’s gold medal in football in 1996. ‘ your contribution was what made us win the gold medal in Atlanta’.

The former under23 tactician also showered encomium on the Bull saying he has good quality on and off the pitch. Little wonder the president finds him worthy of appointment into two positions in five months. Jo urges him to continue his good works and one day he will become the president or vice president of this great country Nigeria. This is indeed good news for the youth as he also advised him to keep empowering and motivating the youth through his office. Kick to Glory, a talent hunting initiative based in Lagos has also added their voice in congratulating their boss, Daniel Amokachi who is the chairman of Kick to Glory.

During his playing days, Amokachi began his career with Ranchers Bees Football Club of Kaduna and played for Club Brugge of Belgium, Besiktas of Turkey, Everton of England, and Colorado Rapids.
He was part of the 1994 squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and also went on to the World Cup in the United States when the super eagles surprised the world with their world-class performance the same year.

Two years later, Amokachi helped Nigeria to the historical gold medal in the football event of the Atlanta 1996 Olympics. Since quitting active football, Amokachi has featured as a pundit and also gone into coaching. He has coached the U-23 National Team, served as assistant coach of the Super Eagles, and coached a handful of Nigerian and foreign clubs also.
