JKT Queens Crowned Champions As Tanzania’s 2025 Community Shield Concludes In Style

Dar es Salaam – Defending champions JKT Queens retained their crown after defeating Simba Queens 2–1 to lift the 2025 Tanzania Women’s Community Shield at the Uhuru Stadium on Saturday.

The soldiers got off to a flying start, with Winfrida Gerald opening the scoring in the 12th minute before a defensive mishap saw Simba’s Asha Omary turn the ball into her own net just five minutes later, giving JKT a commanding 2–0 lead.

Simba Queens pushed hard in the closing stages and were rewarded with a late consolation goal through Ausensia, who struck in the 94th minute. However, it came too late to stop JKT Queens from celebrating back-to-back Community Shield triumphs.

The victory marked JKT Queens’ second consecutive Community Shield title and their fourth overall since the competition began seven seasons ago — a record that underlines their dominance in Tanzanian women’s football.

Having also won last season’s Tanzania Women’s Premier League, JKT Queens head into the new campaign full of confidence and momentum as they aim to defend both crowns in the 2025/2026 season.

The post-match ceremony saw individual brilliance recognized:

Winfrida Gerald (JKT Queens) was named Best Player of the Tournament.

Najat Abbas (JKT Queens) won the Best Goalkeeper Award.

Jenianne Mukandayisenga (Yanga Princess) claimed the Top Scorer Award.

Speaking after the victory, JKT Queens coach praised his team’s discipline and determination.

“The players showed real character and hunger to win. We’re proud to start the new season with another trophy,” he said.

The thrilling conclusion of the Community Shield sets the stage for the 2025/2026 Tanzania Women’s Premier League, which kicks off soon — promising another exciting season of women’s football across the nation.
