Jid Okeke Set To Battle Huddersfield, After Returning To Stockport From Walsall

Fast-rising Nigerian-born defender, Jid Okeke is set to go straight into the starting line-up for Stockport County against Huddersfield Town in this weekend’s English League Two fixture.

Sports247 gathered that this is sequel to a very warm welcome back that Okeke received at the start of the week, as he rejoined Stockport from a loan deal at Walsall.

The 21-year-old battler left the League Two promotion chasers following his recall by Stockport, who are impressed that he played 18 times for Walsall after joining them at the start of September.

A statement by Stockport’s media unit noted that Okeke, who was born in Germany to Nigerian parents, quickly joined Dave Challinor’s team when training resumed earlier this week at Carrington.

The statement added, “(He) has made three first-team appearances for The Hatters since joining from Oldham Athletic in 2023 – two of which came earlier this season, in our Carabao Cup fixtures against Crewe Alexandra and Wigan Athletic.

“(He) has impressed during his time on loan at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium, featuring 18 times in all competitions for the promotion-chasing Saddlers in a variety of different positions.

“He even marked his Walsall debut with a goal, coming off the bench to score against Shrewsbury Town in the Vertu Trophy.”
