Iwobi Reveals Secret Behind Stunning Goal: ‘I Practised That Technique, And Chukwueze Was Brilliant’

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has lifted the lid on the technique behind his spectacular goal in Fulham’s thrilling 5–4 loss to Manchester City, saying the strike was something he regularly works on during training sessions.

Iwobi, who scored Fulham’s second goal of the night, curled in a brilliant effort that left the Etihad crowd stunned. The Nigerian international later revealed that the finish was no fluke.

“It’s something I practise in training, the body shape, the technique, everything. I’m happy it came off in the match,” he said.

The high-scoring clash also saw compatriot Samuel Chukwueze steal the spotlight with a brace, delivering one of his most explosive performances since arriving in the Premier League. Iwobi was full of praise for his Super Eagles teammate.

“Chukwueze was brilliant. I’ve always believed in his quality, he showed everyone what he can do,” Iwobi added.

He highlighted the understanding he shares with Chukwueze and how their connection on the pitch continues to grow with every game they play together.

“We push each other, we motivate each other. Having him around helps me, and I try to help him too,” he said.

The match itself was a roller-coaster, with Fulham pushing the champions to the limit in a nine-goal thriller. Despite the loss, Iwobi insists the team showed courage, intensity, and attacking ambition.

“It was a tough game, but we fought. We created chances, we scored goals. We can build on this,” he noted.

Iwobi believes Fulham can take confidence from their performance and must now channel that energy into upcoming fixtures.

“We have to keep our heads up. Performances like this give us belief. We want to climb the table,” he stated.

He also expressed excitement about the team’s attacking potential, especially with players like Chukwueze hitting top form.

“When our forwards are sharp, we’re a dangerous team. Samuel proved that,” he said.

Iwobi ended on a positive note, saying the focus now is on consistency, both in goals and overall performance.

“We go again. More goals, more wins. That’s the target.”
