Iwobi rated Arsenal’s best player in 5 -1 loss to Liverpool

Arsenal and Super Eagles winger Alex Iwobi has been an object of mixed reaction from Arsenal fans all around the world after the London gunners lost to table toppers Liverpool at the Anfield stadium in their final match of 2018 in the English premier league on Saturday.

 

 

The gunners went ahead in the 11th minute through Ainsley Maitland-Niles who was assisted by a very clever through ball from Iwobi before Jurgen Klopp’s side inspired by Roberto Firminho’s hatrick helped the Reds to a 5 – 1 win to go nine points ahead of second placed Tottenham Hotspur who shockingly lost 3 -1 at home to Wolves and 10 points ahead of defending champions Manchester City who are billed to play Southampton on Sunday.

 

 

Iwobi who in previous weeks have been on the black book of most fans after a short dip in form played all 90 minutes of the encounter also winning admiration of the fans despite the team’s forgettable loss.

 

Some fans on social media believed that the Nigerian winger was Arsenal’s best man on the pitch despite the loss. Sports247.ng followed some of the responses on twitter. @Aubamezzette wrote. “There were some positives on the pitch – for example Ainsley played as right winger and scored, working well. Also Iwobi, after some matches not playing very well, today he played 90 minutes with a good performance”

@KingDavidJasper wrote. “Alexander Iwobi was a joy to watch yesterday. He gave Trent Alexander Arnold a torrid time. He was easily the best player in Arsenal who craves to makes things happen when he’s with the ball.”

 

 

One of Arsenal’s most vocal online fan @PatrickTimmons1 wrote. “I thought Alex Iwobi was one of the few players who can leave Anfield with some pride. He was a threat throughout the game, battled for everything & his delivery for the goal was superb. Xhaka was also let down by his teammates. They all need to regroup & bounce back vs Fulham.”
