Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has praised Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi following his impressive performance in Fulham’s 1-0 victory over Hull City, describing the Nigerian international as one of the most underrated players in the Premier League.
Iwobi delivered an influential display in midfield, helping Fulham control proceedings as the London club secured a narrow victory.
Sherwood, analysing the performance, singled out the Nigerian’s consistency, versatility and ability to influence matches from different positions.
“Iwobi must be one of the most underrated players in the Premier League,” Sherwood said.
“The amount of games he churns out, different positions where he plays. He was excellent.”
The former England international also commended Iwobi’s overall contribution, highlighting the midfielder’s ability to combine attacking quality with the discipline required to maintain control in the middle of the pitch.
“He was absolutely fantastic,” Sherwood added.
Iwobi’s performance further underlined his importance to Fulham, where his experience and tactical flexibility have made him a valuable member of the squad.
The Nigerian has established himself as a dependable Premier League performer, capable of operating in central midfield, advanced attacking roles and wider positions when required.
Sherwood’s assessment also reflects the growing recognition of Iwobi’s contributions beyond goals and assists, particularly his work rate, positional intelligence and consistency across a demanding league campaign.
For the Super Eagles, the midfielder’s form remains encouraging as Nigeria continue preparations for their forthcoming international assignments.
Iwobi, who previously represented Arsenal and Everton, has accumulated extensive Premier League experience and remains one of Nigeria’s most established players in England.
Sherwood believes the midfielder deserves greater recognition for the quality and consistency he continues to demonstrate at the highest level.
