The Fulham FC midfielder was included in the “Players – Off the Pitch” category, alongside Eberechi Eze and England defender Jess Carter.
The Football Black List, established in 2008, celebrates Black individuals in football who are making meaningful contributions to society through activism, charity, and community development.
Iwobi’s recognition comes largely from his initiative, Project 17, which he launched in 2021.
The programme focuses on supporting young people from underserved Black communities through football training, mentorship, educational programmes, and organised competitions like the P17 Cup.
His influence off the pitch has continued to grow, earning him accolades including the Baobab Award in Sport for his commitment to youth empowerment in Nigeria and across the diaspora.
Also featured on the 2025 list are Naomi Bedeau of Oxford United Women and Shakira Waithe of Enfield Town, further highlighting the diversity of talent making a difference beyond the game.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria national football team publicly celebrated Iwobi’s achievement, commending his dedication to using football as a tool for positive change.
The initiative, co-founded by Leon Mann, continues to shine a spotlight on footballers leveraging their influence to inspire and uplift communities worldwide.
