Iwobi, Chukwueze Feature as Fulham Suffer Late Home Defeat to Everton

Fulham’s struggles at home continued as they slipped to a 2–1 defeat against Everton in their English Premier League clash, despite the involvement of Nigerian internationals Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze. Calvin Bassey was named among the substitutes but did not feature in the encounter.

The visitors took an early lead in the 18th minute in fortuitous circumstances. A dangerous delivery from Vitaliy Mykolenko caused confusion in the Fulham defence, eventually resulting in an own goal that handed Everton a 1–0 advantage against the run of play.

Fulham responded positively and enjoyed sustained spells of possession, with Alex Iwobi at the heart of their midfield play. The Super Eagles winger completed the full 90 minutes, recording two successful tackles and creating two goal-scoring chances, but the hosts lacked cutting edge in the final third.

Everton were pegged back in the 76th minute when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall found the net to restore parity, finishing clinically after being set up by Mykolenko, who capped an influential performance.

However, Fulham’s hopes of salvaging a point were dashed late on. In the 83rd minute, goalkeeper Bernd Leno inadvertently turned the ball into his own net under pressure, handing Everton the decisive goal.
