Ivie Peculiar Edogiawerie Sparkles For Edo State At National Para-Games In Abuja

Former National Youth Games sensation, Ivie Peculiar Edogiawerie turned out to be a revelation at the 3rd National Para-Games in Abuja, after emerging among the victorious ranks of Edo State at the competition for physically challenge athletes.

Sports247 reports that Edogiawerie led the surge for Team Edo in the para-table tennis event by clinching two gold medals in the singles’ Open Class 6–10 and Class 10 events at Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

Edogiawerie, who achieved significant success at the 2025 Para-Games and National Youth Games, including winning gold in the women’s open singles, is noted for her speed, tactical brilliance and consistent podium finishes.

Following the example set by Edogiawerie, who won gold in the women’s open singles and Class 10 category, Blessing Aiwekhoe also got gold in the Class 5 women’s singles, then joined Olowe to win the mixed doubles.

Ada Okungbowa and Kazeem Adejunye won bronze medals in their respective categories, even as Edo State has also excelled in para-powerlifting and para-taekwondo, in which they further won three gold medals.

With an early haul of seven gold, six silver and five bronze medals in their kitty, Team Edo have turned out to be one of the standout achievers so far at Abuja 2026.

Loaded with 90 athletes competing in 10 events, Edo State’s efforts were further boosted by yet another gold medal achieved by Aiwekhoe in the Class 3 event.
