Youngster Mati Taiwo won gold on the last day of the just concluded 2022 ITTF African Youth Championship in Tunisia after defeating Egypt’s Gamal Marwan 4-1 in the final of the U-19 men’s singles event.

Taiwo who is gradually becoming the future star for Nigeria had earlier joined the duo of Muiz Adegoke and Samuel Boboye to help the country to gold after winning two matches to defeat their Egyptian counterparts in the final of the U-19 boys’ team event on Saturday.

Nigeria earned their second gold medal and only silver on the last day after the duo of Mati Taiwo and Boboye Samuel defeated fellow Nigerian compatriots Kuti Matthew and Muiz Adegoke 3-2 in all-Nigeria affairs in the boys’ double event.
