“It’s a Dream Season” — Ayodele Ezekiel Reflects on Breakthrough Year With Abia Warriors and Super Eagles Call-Up

Ayodele Ezekiel, the electric right winger for Abia Warriors FC, has described the 2024/2025 NPFL campaign as a “dream season,” following his key role in guiding the club to its first-ever CAF Confederation Cup qualification and earning his maiden Super Eagles Team B invitation.

Speaking after the season ended, Ezekiel reflected on the journey that saw him feature in 29 of 38 league matches, consistently delivering standout performances with his pace, technical skill, and eye for goal.

“It means everything to be part of history,” he said. “To help the club reach continental football for the first time and then get a call-up to the national team — it’s a blessing.”

Ezekiel’s performances caught the eye of national selectors, leading to his inclusion in the CHAN Eagles squad last year — his first taste of international duty. The call-up was a major career milestone for the 21-year-old, capping a season that saw him become a fan favorite in Umuahia.

The Abia Warriors’ campaign ended with a crucial 2–1 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors, sealing the historic CAF ticket. Ezekiel’s impact throughout the season was widely praised, with many tipping him as one of the league’s most promising wingers.

“It’s been special,” he added. “To share this with my teammates, the coaches, and the fans — I’ll never forget it.”

As the new season approaches, Ayodele Ezekiel stands out as one of Nigeria’s most exciting young footballers, already making his mark at both club and national level.
