Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka has described Coventry City’s 2-1 defeat to Southampton as unfortunate, after the result brought an end to the club’s impressive six-game winning streak.
Onyeka admitted that the loss was a frustrating one for the team, especially because Coventry created enough chances to get something from the game.

“It was an unfortunate result for us,” Onyeka said.
The midfielder explained that Coventry performed well in spells and showed enough attacking intent, but failed to make the most of the opportunities they created.
“We created a lot of chances, but unfortunately we couldn’t convert them,” he added.
According to Onyeka, that lack of efficiency in front of goal ultimately proved costly against a Southampton side that took their chances better.
The Nigerian international noted that while the end of the winning run is disappointing, the team must quickly refocus and respond positively in the next game.
“We just have to keep going and learn from it,” he said.
Coventry had been in strong form heading into the match, winning six straight games, and Onyeka believes the performance still showed enough positives despite the result.
For the midfielder, the key now is for the team to remain confident and not allow one defeat to derail the momentum they have built in recent weeks.
