‘It Was Always a Waste!’ Ejiofor Blasts NFF Over DR Congo Petition

Former Super Eagles defender Eric Ejiofor has criticised the Nigeria Football Federation over its petition against the DR Congo national team, describing the entire process as a waste of time.

Following FIFA’s decision on the matter, Ejiofor insisted that Nigeria should have focused on qualifying through results on the pitch rather than administrative routes.

“The petition was always a waste of time,” he said.

The former defender noted that despite the federation confirming it has lodged an appeal, he believes the outcome is already clear and unlikely to change.

“With the verdict now delivered, it’s time to move on,” he added.

Ejiofor stressed that Nigeria must now shift attention to more pressing football matters, including rebuilding the team and improving future qualification campaigns.

He expressed disappointment that the country found itself in such a position, arguing that better preparation and performances during the qualifiers would have avoided the situation entirely.

“We should focus on other important issues now,” he said.

According to him, continuing to pursue appeals will only serve as a distraction from the real work that needs to be done within Nigerian football.

Ejiofor concluded by urging the authorities to learn from the experience and ensure that future campaigns are handled with greater seriousness and efficiency, emphasizing that success should be earned on the field rather than pursued through off-field processes.
