‘It Hurt Badly’ Arokodare Left Frustrated After Late Own Goal Sinks Wolves Against Arsenal

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare has admitted that Wolves’ dramatic late defeat to Arsenal was painful, describing the loss as “hurtful” after his debut Premier League goal appeared to have earned his side a valuable point.

Arokodare thought he had rescued Wolves with a composed finish that levelled the score late in the game, only for heartbreak to strike moments later when defender Yerson Mosquera accidentally turned the ball into his own net in stoppage time.

“It was really hurtful. We thought we had done enough to get a point, especially after the effort we put in,” Arokodare said.

The striker explained that the disappointment was magnified because Wolves had battled hard throughout the match and showed resilience against one of the league’s title contenders.

“To score your first Premier League goal is special, but when you lose like that at the end, it hurts a lot,” he admitted.

Arokodare revealed that Wolves’ season has been plagued by fine margins, with several matches slipping away late due to small mistakes.

“We’ve been unlucky this season. So many games have been decided by small moments, and this was another one,” he said.

Despite the frustration, the Nigerian forward stressed that the team must remain mentally strong and continue fighting until the final whistle in every match.

“This league punishes you if you switch off even for one second. We have to give everything until the last whistle,” he noted.

Arokodare also praised his teammates for their effort and commitment, insisting that the team spirit remains strong despite the result.

“The boys worked hard. Nobody stopped fighting. That’s something we can build on,” he said.

Looking ahead, the striker believes Wolves must quickly put the defeat behind them and focus on upcoming fixtures.

“We can’t dwell on this for too long. We have to learn from it and move on. The season is long,” he added.

Although the result was cruel, Arokodare remains optimistic that Wolves’ fortunes will turn if they maintain belief and intensity.

“If we keep working and stay together, the results will come. I believe that,” he concluded.
