Turkish second-tier side Istanbulspor have rejected claims linking Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen with a proposed takeover, stressing that no official approach has been received.
The speculation emerged after the Galatasaray forward spoke during a livestream with Nigerian content creator Carter Efe, where he shared his long-term ambition to invest in football after retirement.
Osimhen revealed plans to acquire a lower-division club in Turkey and establish a feeder system in Nigeria, aimed at nurturing young talents from grassroots level and creating a pathway to European football.
Following those comments, several reports suggested that Istanbulspor could be the club targeted for acquisition.
However, club president Ecmel Faik Sarialioglu dismissed the rumours, stating that the club has not been contacted.
“We’ve seen reports that Osimhen is going to buy Istanbulspor, but as the club president, I can confirm we haven’t received any official confirmation,” he said, as quoted by Milliyet.
Osimhen’s vision reflects his rise from humble beginnings in Lagos to becoming one of Africa’s leading forwards.
The 27-year-old is keen to create opportunities for emerging Nigerian players by building a sustainable development structure.
Founded in 1926, Istanbulspor remains one of Istanbul’s historic clubs, although it has endured mixed fortunes, including relegation from the top flight in the 2004/05 season.
Its relatively modest stature has made it an attractive prospect for potential investors seeking long-term development projects.
Despite the growing buzz, there is no concrete evidence at this stage to suggest that Osimhen is set to invest in Istanbulspor.
