Former Blackburn Rovers head coach Valérien Ismaël has confirmed that defender Ryan Alebiosu is battling a hamstring injury sustained during his side’s recent outing against Hull City.

Ismaël revealed that Alebiosu felt discomfort during the match, prompting the technical crew to withdraw him rather than risk worsening the problem.
“It’s a hamstring problem, so we need to assess how bad it is. We took him out because I’m not taking risks,” Ismaël explained. “It gave some positive signs at first, but last time a player said something similar, he was out for five weeks. Now we’re waiting for the medical department to give us proper information.”
The French tactician also pointed out that Alebiosu had struggled to regain full rhythm after returning from AFCON duties, having gone several weeks without training before rejoining the squad.
“Since he came back, he was completely out of rhythm, three weeks without training. We only had about 10 days to build him up,” Ismaël added. “We tried to manage him well and the signs were positive, but now we’ll see how serious it is.”
Further medical tests are expected to determine the extent of the injury and how long the defender will be sidelined, as Blackburn await clarity on Alebiosu’s recovery timeline.
