The encounter, played in a calm and competitive atmosphere, saw the home side assert their dominance from the opening minutes. Chibuike set the tone early, rising highest to convert a corner with a powerful close-range header.

Captain Ifemeludike then took control of proceedings, extending the lead before completing a first-half brace to give Island All Stars a comfortable 3-0 advantage at the break.

Despite several tactical substitutions in the second half, Island All Stars maintained their intensity. Ike Ibe replaced Ifemeludike, while De-Man, Asikabulu, and others were introduced to keep the tempo high. Chibuike continued to shine, producing a brilliant solo effort after beating two defenders to make it 4-0.

Godfrey added further gloss to the scoreline with a stunning long-range free kick for the fifth goal, before Chibuike completed his hat-trick to seal an emphatic 6-0 victory.

Interestingly, despite conceding six goals, the Lagos All Stars goalkeeper delivered a standout performance, making several crucial saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.

At the heart of Island All Stars’ defensive solidity was Gabriel popularly called “Rudiger”, whose exceptional display earned him the Man of the Match award. The center-back was composed and dominant throughout, leading the defensive line with authority.

Speaking after the match, Gabriel credited his performance to discipline and fitness. “I give God the glory. Fitness has been the source of my performance. Since I stopped active football, I’ve never stopped keeping fit,” he told Sports247Naija.

Chief Patrick Onwuelingo also praised the team’s overall display, highlighting their discipline and unity.

“It was a fantastic game. The players followed instructions and delivered. Discipline and teamwork made the difference,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lagos All Stars Vice President, Augustine IfeanyiChukwu, acknowledged the defeat but expressed determination ahead of a potential return leg.

“We will stage a comeback from the humiliation and work on every area that needs improvement,” he stated.

Island All Stars are set to continue their run of friendly fixtures, with upcoming trips to Akure and Oyo State for high-profile matches.

The team will aim to maintain their strong form while continuing to promote camaraderie and competitive spirit through their engagements.
