Island All Stars Dominate Team Lugna to Clinch Super Cup in Style

Island All Stars produced a dominant display to defeat Werblack Wine Synergy Cup champions Team Lugna 3–0 in the Island All Stars International Sports Club Super Cup held at Lagos Business School.

The Super Cup, staged as a curtain-raiser to signal the start of a new season — similar in concept to England’s Community Shield — attracted several dignitaries and distinguished guests, adding glamour to the event.

Island All Stars asserted their authority early in the contest. Uche Ifemuludike opened the scoring in the 7th minute, powering home a header to give his side a deserved lead.

Chibuike had the opportunity to extend the advantage from the penalty spot but was denied after the goalkeeper dived sharply to his left to make an impressive save.

The forward, however, responded emphatically in the second half. Within five minutes of the restart, Chibuike found the net with a composed left-footed finish inside the box after being set up by Ifemuludike, doubling Island All Stars’ lead.

He completed his brace in the 73rd minute, sealing a comprehensive 3–0 victory and ensuring the Super Cup trophy remained firmly in Island All Stars’ hands.

The emphatic win sends a strong message ahead of the new campaign, as Island All Stars begin the season in commanding fashion.
