With Okoro on top of his game for his Chicago-based side, The Bulls rallied to go on top 73-72, after Celtic initially outscored their hosts 30-22 in the second quarter and took a 58-52 lead at halftime.
Chicago bounced back on Okoro’s layup midway through the third quarter and the Nigerian-born lad’s efforts were complemented by Kevin Huerter’s 3-pointer with one second remaining to give The Bulls victory over The Celtics.
Boston briefly regained the lead on an Anfernee Simons 3-pointer, but The Bulls then went on a 16-8 run to close out the frame and Okoro’s side earned their win over the No. 2 team in the Eastern Conference.
The Bulls’ victory coincided with their retirement of Derrick Rose’s jersey at Chicago’s United Center, where Okoro’s side maintained their lead through the first five minutes of the fourth quarter.
Celtics went back on top 100-99 on a layup by Jordan Walsh, after which both teams traded the lead on 3s from Boston’s Derrick White and Bulls’ Patrick Williams before Chicago again built a four-point margin with 5:29 remaining.
Okoro’s team are now on the fringes of play-off contention, tied at No. 8 in the East at 23-22, having won four consecutive games and six of their past eight, though they earlier lost the second end of back-to-back games.
