International Triathlon Union Holds Community Course In Lagos

The International Triathlon Union (ITU) backed Community Course will holds from Wednesday to Saturday (December 4-7) at the boardroom of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC).

The course, which is holding in conjunction with the Nigeria Triathlon Union (NTU), is for candidates that participated in the Level One IOC/ITU Solidarity Coaching Course held recently as upgrade capacity for new ITU rules/regulations.

The resource person for this course is the highly experienced Christie Ackerman Retief Freysen from South Africa. He will be assisted by Nigerian coaches – Bashir Mohammed Deputy Technical Director of NTU, as well as the National Chief Coach, Goodie Emefuna.

The course, according to NTU, is being planned to deepen triathlon in the country.

The closing activities of the course on Saturday will coincide with the second edition of the National Cadbury Bournvita Duathlon Championships taking place inside the National Stadium Complex. The main bowl will serve as the running terrain, while the biking takes place on the circle roads round outside the main bowl.

The championship will feature teams from schools, states, armed forces with mouth-watering attractive prize monies up for grab.

Meanwhile, the NTU is planning ‘A Special Dinner’ to be tagged ‘Sponsors/Media Parley’. This is to be held during the first quarter of the year 2020 to say ‘Thank You’ and express earned appreciation and gratitude for their support over the years to our Sponsors – Old, New and In-coming. Awards ceremony will also be part of this Dinner to honour deserving individuals/corporate bodies who have been identifying with this noble Olympic Sport – Triathlon.
