Immanuel Feyi-Waboso In Doubt For England’s Rugby Six-Nations Fixtures

Nigerian-born England rugby national team wing, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has been cast in doubt for any further appearance in the Six Nations outing by Steve Borthwick’s Three Lions’ side, Sports247 reports.

Feyi-Waboso already missed England’s 48-7 victory over Wales, as The Exeter flyer was forced into a late withdrawal with a hamstring injury, which has now been declared more serious than initially feared.

It also means he is unlikely to feature for England further during the competition, in which they face Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday on a run of 12 straight wins without Feyi-Waboso in their extended squad.

Borthwick stated, “Manny, it looks like he will be out for a number of weeks. I don’t know how many weeks. Specialists being specialists, I don’t know exactly how many weeks it is.

“There’s a number rather than a single, which is disappointing. But that’s unfortunately the nature of elite sport – there are injuries and then you have to adapt.”

Sports247 reports further that Feyi-Waboso, who was born on December 20th, 2002, plays as a wing for Exeter Chiefs in England’s Rugby Premier League and is one of six siblings.

He was born in Wales, to parents who had Nigerian, English and Jamaican heritage, then grew up in Llandaff, Cardiff, where he began playing rugby, which blossomed during his days at Clifton College in Bristol.

Feyi-Waboso played rugby actively with Rumney RFC as well as Cardiff Schools at U-11 and U-15 level, following which he initially studied at Aston University, then moved to read medicine at Exeter University.

The rugby wing signed for Cardiff Blues academy ahead of the 2020/2021 season, but left after failing to secure a place in the medical programme at Cardiff University, then shifted to Aston University.

At the international level, he received his first call-up to the senior England squad on January 17th, 2024 for the Six Nations Championship and got his debut on February 3rd, 2024, in a 27–24 win against Italy.

After scoring five tries in eight international appearances, he was shortlisted for the 2024 Breakthrough Player of the Year before losing to Wallace Sititi and he was ruled out of the 2025 Six Nations after undergoing shoulder surgery.
