Dar es Salaam — Nigerian midfielder and captain of Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars, Morice Chukwu, has made a bold declaration about his future at the club, stating he would consider leaving if the team failed to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
Chukwu, who has been a key figure under coach Miguel Gamondi, revealed that playing in the group stage of a continental competition has always been a personal dream — one he believes could also open doors for his Nigeria national team ambitions.

“It’s my dream to play in the group stage of the CAF competition. That’s what gives players exposure and confidence,” Chukwu said. “I want to be part of the Nigerian national team going to AFCON, so I have to fight with Singida to achieve that. I know it’s not an easy task, but I believe it’s possible.”
The versatile midfielder, who has captained the side with passion and consistency, said his ambition goes beyond qualification. He believes Singida Black Stars have the quality and determination to push even further — aiming for a place in the semi-finals or final of the Confederation Cup.
“Our journey doesn’t end in the group stage. We have the talent, structure, and belief to go far,” Chukwu added. “We’re grateful to the management for their constant support and motivation.”
In Singida’s historic qualification match against Burundi’s Frembeaua du Centre, Chukwu was instrumental — playing in multiple positions and maintaining composure throughout the 90 minutes as his team secured their first-ever qualification to the group stage.
With his leadership and determination, Morice Chukwu has not only inspired his teammates but also positioned himself as one of Nigeria’s standout exports in Tanzanian football, proving that resilience, ambition, and belief can turn dreams into reality.
