Ikoyi Club 1938 will come alive this Saturday for the finals of this year’s CBN Junior Tennis Championship, whose preliminary rounds were concluded on Friday at the courts of Lagos National Stadium, Surulere.

Sports247 gathered that the biggest shinning light in the semi-finals was Damilola Agbabiaka from Cross River State, who defeated Wisdom Effiong 9-8, while Heman Afaramai beat Joel Michael 9-4 in the second game of the U16 boys’ category.
In the U16 girls’ class, Gloria Samuel defeated Barakat Ganiyu 9-2 in the first semi-final while Favour James dismissed Omoyinka Ayinla 9-4 in the second one, to set up an epic final clash this Saturday at the tennis courts of Ikoyi Club 1938.
Godwin Afaramai beat Divine Ezaka 9-6 in the boys’ under-14 category, while Alaba Adeyinka got a 9-5 victory over Abdulkarim Mohammed; all of which left championship coordinator, Godwin Kienka raining accolades on the players.
Kienka, who is an ex-international tennis star, praised all the players for uplifting the standard of the championship this year and singled out Damola Agbabiaka for displaying skills that surpassed what was seen in the historic 2025 finals.
He also praised Heman Afaramai and Pinky Onyemenam for standing out with their amazing talents throughout the preliminaries in Surulere, which left him glowing with great expectations for more heroics during the finals on Saturday.
