Having been part of the coaching staff since 2020, he offered a candid assessment of the team’s recent matches.

Speaking with Sports247, Dabiri highlighted the significant improvement observed in the second game against Magic Stars compared to their initial performance. Explaining the challenges faced during the game, he said, “Because of the opposition and being a man down, that situation really tested how the players would perform under pressure.”

When pressed about his evaluation of the players’ performance, Dabiri gave it a 50/100 rating. He pointed out that the concession of two goals was an area of concern, emphasizing the importance of quick reactions and effective communication, especially in defence.

To rectify these issues and prevent similar lapses in the future, Dabiri stressed the necessity of returning to the drawing board and making essential corrections. He stated, “We have to return to the drawing board and make necessary corrections. It’s a standard procedure for us, whether we perform well or not.”

Despite the presence of new players in the squad, Dabiri remains optimistic about the team’s potential for improvement. He concluded by affirming his belief that, with concerted efforts and dedication, “They will get better.”

As the pre-season tournament continues, Ikorodu City FC and their coaching staff are committed to refining their strategies and achieving their goals.
