Ika Grassroots Football League Begins with 10 Teams

The First Edition of the Ika Grassroots Football League will kick off this weekend with Games across 5 centers as 10 teams registered to lock horns.

The League organizing Committee chaired by Dr Ken Gadaffi, Director of KG Sports Foundation endorses the Rules and Regulations of the league at a meeting held on Tusday 24th August.

Ten Teams From Eight Communities within Ika will be taking part in this first Edition.

KG Sports Academy, Winners FC, Green Rangers, Rainbow FC and Ika Lions all based in Agbor, Ika South Local Government, Unity FC based in Ewuru also in Ika South completes the 6 Teams from Ika South.

Divine Academy Owa Alero, Emelem United Umunede, Galilee Uteogbeje, and Akumazi United are the 4 Teams from Ika North East.

“This Year’s Theme is tagged “Right To Play” says League’s CEO Dr Ken Gadaffi.

“We want to use this League to Foster unity in the ika region and also give youths rights to play” He stated.

“There are abundant talents in Ika Region and we want to scout for the next Ndidi Wilfred” Dr Ken Said “Not many people knows that the Leicester City Star is from Umunede in Ika, surely there are many young talents and hopefully this League will attract not only Clubs in the Nigeria league but also international Scouts” The CEO Sports Development and Empowerment Innitiative enthused

The opening Fixtures on Sunday 29th will involve Green Rangers FC Agbor Vs Unity Stars Ewuru at Gbenoba Grammar School while over at Akumazi Primary School, Akumazi United Will host Winners FC of Agbor Obi.

On Monday 30th, KG Sports Academy will Take the trip North East to Owa Model Secondary School to face Divine Football Academy Boji Boji Owa.

Ika Lions FC Agbor will host Emelem United FC Umunede at Gbenoba Grammar School Field

The last match of Week 1 week see Gallilee of Uteogbeje play host to Rainbow FC Agbor.

Fans are expected to be thrilled by these games as each Community slug it out for bragging Rights.
