Kelechi Iheanacho emerged as the match-winner for Celtic FC, coming off the bench to score a decisive late goal in a hard-fought 2–1 away victory over Dundee FC at Scot Foam Stadium, Dens Park on Matchday 32 of the Scottish Premiership.
The visitors made a bright start, taking the lead in the 8th minute through Yang Hyun-jun, who converted from the penalty spot to put Celtic ahead early.
However, Dundee responded with resilience, as Simon Murray found the equalizer to restore parity and set up a tense encounter.
With the game finely balanced, Iheanacho was introduced in the 58th minute, replacing Tomas Cvancara in a tactical move aimed at injecting fresh attacking impetus.
The Nigerian forward, fondly referred to as the “Senior Man,” quickly made his presence felt with intelligent movement and composure in the final third.
His decisive moment arrived in the 82nd minute when he connected with a well-timed assist from Marcelo Saracchi, calmly finishing to hand Celtic the lead once again. The goal ultimately proved to be the difference in a closely contested match.
Drama continued shortly after, as Dundee’s Ryan Astley was shown a red card just two minutes later, reducing the home side to ten men and effectively ending their hopes of a late comeback.
Iheanacho’s impact off the bench underscores his value to Celtic, particularly in high-pressure moments where experience and clinical finishing are required.
His ability to change games adds a crucial dimension to the squad as the season approaches its climax.
The victory strengthens Celtic’s position in the league standings, while also highlighting the importance of squad depth and timely substitutions in tight fixtures.
For Iheanacho, it was another reminder of his knack for delivering when it matters most.
