Igbokwe Confident Falconets Will Finish Job Against Senegal

Falconets midfielder Joy Igbokwe has expressed confidence that Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team has what it takes to overcome Senegal in the return leg of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.

Reacting to Nigeria’s slim first-leg victory, Igbokwe said the Falconets are fully aware of the task ahead and are already working to correct the mistakes from the opening encounter.

“We know it wasn’t our best game, but the most important thing was getting the win,” Igbokwe said. “We’ve gone back to work on the areas we didn’t get right, and we’ll be better in the return leg.”

The midfielder stressed that the team is focused, united and determined to complete the qualification mission, adding that complacency will have no place in the squad’s approach.

“Senegal are a good side and they will come out stronger, but we believe in ourselves. We have the quality and the mentality to see this through,” she added.

Igbokwe also appealed to Nigerian fans to continue backing the team, noting that their support remains a major source of motivation for the players.

“The fans have been amazing. We need them to keep believing in us because we are ready to fight for the country.”

The Falconets will face Senegal U-20 Women in the decisive return leg, with a place at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup at stake.
