Igbobi College Students to Benefit from CAF Initiative

The Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) has presented five footballs to Igbobi College, Lagos, as part of the CAF School Football Development Initiative, aimed at promoting health, wellness, and active participation in football among students.

To officially mark the presentation, the Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, Dotun Coker, who is also an alumnus of the institution, handed over the symbolic CAF footballs to the Principal of Igbobi College, Joseph Oyewale Adediji.

Igbobi College has a rich tradition of producing outstanding football talents, including Andrew Uwe, Golden Ajebor, Mike Dominic, Tunde Martins, Joseph Dosu, Ibitimi Collins and Jonathan Akpoborie.

The school is also renowned for producing notable leaders and public figures such as Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, and Babatunde Raji Fashola, former Governor of Lagos State. Immediate past 1st NFF VP and former LSFA Chairman Seyi Akinwunmi is also an alumnus of the iconic institution.

Speaking during the presentation, Dotun Coker stated that the donation aligns with a broader vision of developing students not only academically, but also physically, emotionally, and socially through the transformative power of football.

He further explained that the initiative originated from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and was distributed through the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to the 36 State Football Associations and the FCT for onward delivery to selected schools.

In his remarks, the Principal of Igbobi College, Joseph Oyewale Adediji, expressed appreciation to the leadership of the Lagos State Football Association for finding the school worthy to benefit from the first phase of the CAF School Football Development Initiative.

He noted that the gesture would further encourage students to participate actively in sports while promoting discipline, teamwork, and healthy living.
