Ifeanyi Eze delivered a standout performance with a well-taken brace, but his heroics were not enough to secure maximum points as Wellington Phoenix were held to a 2–2 home draw by Melbourne City on Matchday 15 of the Australian A-League.

The Nigerian forward put the Phoenix ahead in the 23rd minute, showing sharp awareness and composure to finish clinically and give the home side an early advantage.
Wellington Phoenix carried that momentum into the second half, and Eze struck again in the 52nd minute, doubling the lead with another assured finish to cap an impressive individual display.
With a two-goal cushion, the Phoenix looked set to claim all three points in front of their supporters. However, Melbourne City mounted a strong late response that turned the contest on its head. Substitute Mohammad Younis reduced the deficit in the 73rd minute, injecting belief into the visitors’ comeback.
Just four minutes later, Medin Memeti completed the revival, firing home the equaliser in the 77th minute to silence the home crowd and force a share of the spoils.
Despite the frustration of conceding late goals, Eze’s performance was a major positive for Wellington Phoenix.
His movement, finishing, and overall attacking presence caused constant problems for the Melbourne City defence and underlined his growing influence in the side.
