Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup 2022: …And The Winner Is, Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens

It was a day filled with glitz and glamour as Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens emerged champions of the maiden edition of the Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup at Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba, Delta state.

Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens defeated fearless Imo Strikers 2-0 with goals from influential playmaker, Peace Ikediuba and midfield maestro, Ayanfe Adebanjo.

It took only 14 minutes of the game before Peace Ikediuba found the back of the net to give Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens the lead in the game.

Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens dominated proceedings in the first half and had couple of chances to double their lead but couldn’t get the ball to the back of the net.

Imo Strikers came out in the second half blazing like wounded lions and pegged Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens to their own half thereby creating missiles of chances but weren’t lucky to hit the back of the net in a very pulsating encounter.

Midfield maestro Ayanfe Adebanjo compounded Imo Strikers woes in the game as she scored a magnificent freekick in the 66th minute to seal an important win for Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens.

It is a record win for Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens as they become the first club to win the maiden edition of the Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup.

The late Ifeanyi Chiejine holds the record of the youngest player to play at the FIFA Women’s World Cup at the of 16 years and 34 days as she made her debut at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1999 and died at the age of 36. She’s from Delta state.
