The Ibadan Football Council (IFC) has imposed a season-long ban on Coach Kolawole Emmanuel, popularly known as ‘Drey’, the Head Coach of Karim Adeyemi FC, following his physical and verbal assault on a match official.
The incident occurred during an IFC League fixture between Karim Adeyemi FC and Young Stars FC on Thursday, July 3, at the Olubadan Stadium.

Coach Drey was found guilty of attacking Referee Dina Petral of the Lagelu Referees’ Society in what the council described as “an unacceptable act that brought the game into disrepute.”
In a statement issued by IFC Secretary-General, Folorunsho Oyelakin, the council stated that Coach Kolawole has been banned from attending any match at the Olubadan Stadium, whether in an official capacity or as a spectator, for the remainder of the current season.
“The coach’s conduct on that day was disgraceful and goes against the core values of sportsmanship and respect,” the statement read. “As a result, he is excluded from any form of involvement with any team or player participating in the IFC League.”
In addition, the council confirmed that Coach Drey is prohibited from entering the premises of the Olubadan Stadium entirely until the end of the season.
The statement also warned that any violation of the ban will trigger an extension of the sanction to the state and national levels, in line with the council’s affiliation with the Oyo State Football Association (OYSFA) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
“The IFC will not tolerate any act of lawlessness or violence against match officials,” the statement emphasized. “All stakeholders must uphold the integrity of the game.”
The disciplinary action means Coach Drey will be absent from the touchline for Karim Adeyemi FC’s remaining eight matches of the 2025 IFC League season.
