IFA Elections: Alli, Others Re-elected For Another Four Years… As Oyelakin Becomes General Secretary Of The Renamed Football Governing Body

Mogaji Rotimi Alli, the incumbent Chairman of the Ibadan Football Association (IFA), now Ibadan Football Council, and four other contestants were elected on Thursday morning to pilot the affairs of the foremost soccer ruling body for another four years.

The four other contestants that were elected unopposed included Coach Idowu Akintola, Vice-Chairman; Alhaja Romoke Badmos, with Mr. Muyiwa Ladoja and Mr. Lukman Akande as Members.

The body’s long-serving publicist, Mr. Folorunsho Oyelakin was announced as the General Secretary of the Council. The election was moderated by the Oyo State Football Association (OYSFA).

The tenure of the new Management Board will end in 2027.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the IFA Board members, Mogaji Alli thanked all football stakeholders in Ibadan land, especially the Chairman of Oyo State Football Association (OYSFA), Oba James Odeniran for the confidence reposed in him to give him another four-year tenure.

He reiterated his Board’s commitment to performing better than their first term.

Alli, a legal luminary, and an ex-footballer noted that being given another term was a call to higher responsibility, stressing that he was ready to work with other members to take football to greater heights in the land.

Thereafter, Libero, as Alli was popularly called during his football days, announced the appointment of Mr. Folorunsho Oyelakin as the General Secretary of the Council.

Meanwhile, the inaugural meeting of the newly elected Ibadan Football Council (IFC) comes up tomorrow Friday 26th of May 2023 at 3 pm.

The meeting, according to a release signed by the General Secretary of the Council Folorunsho Oyelakin, stated that top on the agenda for the meeting was the first-ever Ibadan Football Council Female League which commences soon as well as the ongoing IFA League and other sundry issues.

The statement enjoined all members to attend promptly.
