ICPC’s Anti-Corruption Unit in NFF Excites Sanusi Mohammed

The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, MON, has expressed his delight at the inauguration of the newly appointed members of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) within the Federation.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, Dr. Sanusi welcomed the strengthened collaboration between the NFF and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), describing it as a partnership that has significantly improved the Federation’s internal processes.

“We are happy with the collaboration and working with you because it has helped us in improving our processes, keeping proper records, and insisting that things are done the right way,” he said. “People must understand the work of ACTU; it is about ensuring the right things are done to avoid investigations and possible indictments. We are happy to have you in our midst and we assure you of our maximum cooperation.”

Dr. Sanusi added that the inauguration represents a vital step in equipping ACTU members to effectively carry out their responsibilities in line with the NFF’s vision of building a sustainable football culture and positioning Nigeria as a leading footballing nation on the continent and beyond.

Also speaking at the event, ICPC representative Dr. Aliyu congratulated the new NFF-ACTU executive members and urged them to uphold integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

“I encourage you to carry out your duties with utmost diligence, integrity, and professionalism,” he said. “Refrain from any action that could compromise your position or the strategic role entrusted to you. I appreciate the NFF management for their commitment to making this event a reality.”

The newly appointed ACTU Chairperson, Barr. Queen Otarakpo, expressed gratitude to the NFF leadership and acknowledged the efforts of the outgoing team.

“We appreciate your support, and by the grace of God, we will not disappoint you,” she said. “I also want to appreciate the outgoing chairman and his members for laying the foundation on which we are building today. We assure you of our commitment to be diligent, responsible, and proactive in carrying out our duties.”

The ceremony was attended by senior officials of both the ICPC and NFF, including directors, departmental heads, and technical staff, marking another significant step in the Federation’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical administration.
