Super Falcons midfielder Suliat Abideen has expressed delight at making her senior international debut against Comoros, describing the opportunity to represent Nigeria as a memorable moment in her football career.
The Fenerbahçe Women midfielder was among the players introduced during Nigeria’s Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifying encounters against Comoros, as the Super Falcons secured a commanding 7-0 aggregate victory to advance to the next round.
Reflecting on her experience, Abideen revealed that she was excited when the coaching staff instructed her to prepare for her introduction as a substitute.
“I was so happy when the coach called that I would be coming in as a substitution. I was so happy,” she said.
The midfielder explained that stepping onto the pitch gave her an opportunity to contribute to the team’s performance, even within the limited time available.
“And I thank God that I’m able to contribute one or two,” Abideen stated.
Having previously expressed her excitement at receiving a maiden national team invitation, the midfielder said making her debut represented another important step towards establishing herself in the Super Falcons setup.
Abideen acknowledged the competition for places within the squad but maintained that she remains determined to make the most of every opportunity.
“I’m here to give my best, and every time I get the opportunity to play, to give my all,” she declared.
Her involvement comes as Nigeria continues to integrate fresh talent into the national team while pursuing one of Africa’s two qualification places for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The midfielder will now be hoping to build on her debut and earn further opportunities as the Super Falcons prepare for the next stage of the qualification campaign.
For Abideen, the joy of wearing Nigeria’s colours has strengthened her determination to work harder, contribute whenever called upon and establish herself as a valuable member of the Super Falcons squad.
