New Super Eagles invitee Ryan Alebiosu has revealed that deciding to represent Nigeria was an easy and emotional choice, after being approached by the Nigeria Football Federation just weeks ago to clarify his international future.
The Blackburn Rovers defender said the opportunity fulfilled a lifelong dream and left him with no hesitation.

“I was contacted a few weeks ago and asked to make a decision. I didn’t think twice — representing Nigeria has always been my dream,” Alebiosu said.
Born and raised in England, Alebiosu explained that his Nigerian roots played a major role in his decision, alongside the chance to be part of a talented Super Eagles squad heading into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“The chance to play with top players in this team made it an easy decision. This is a special group,” he added.
The 22-year-old defender admitted that receiving a national team call-up at this stage of his career is both humbling and motivating.
“To be considered for AFCON is a big honour. It motivates me to work even harder and prove myself,” he said.
Alebiosu said he has already felt welcomed by the senior players in camp and is focused on learning quickly and adapting to the demands of international football.
“The environment is positive. The senior players have been supportive, and I’m learning every day,” he noted.
The young defender stressed that he understands the responsibility that comes with representing Nigeria at a major tournament, especially after recent disappointments.
“This badge means a lot. I know Nigerians expect commitment, passion and effort,” he said.
Alebiosu also made his ambitions clear, insisting that the Super Eagles are heading to Morocco with one objective.
“We want to win the Africa Cup of Nations. That’s the mindset. Anything less wouldn’t be enough for Nigeria,” he stated.
He added that while he is realistic about competition for places, he is ready to contribute in any role.
“Whether I play or not, I’m here to give my best and help the team succeed,” Alebiosu said.
As Nigeria fine-tune preparations for AFCON, Alebiosu’s story reflects the pull of national identity — and the belief that representing the Super Eagles is a dream worth embracing without hesitation.
