‘I Already Know Nigerian Basketball’ Fizdale Excited By D’Tigers Role — New Coach Targets Success Like D’Tigress

Newly appointed D’Tigers head coach Dave Fizdale has revealed that he is already familiar with Nigerian basketball and many of the country’s top players ahead of beginning his new role with the national team.

Speaking after his appointment, the American coach explained that his previous experience working with Nigerian players in the NBA helped him develop a strong understanding of the country’s basketball culture and potential.

“I already know Nigerian basketball,” Fizdale said.

According to the veteran coach, he has followed the progress of Nigerian basketball closely over the years, particularly the success of the women’s national team, D’Tigress.

“I’ve watched the D’Tigress journey carefully,” he implied.

Fizdale admitted that the achievements of the women’s team have inspired him and created extra motivation to help the men’s side achieve similar success.

“I want to replicate that success with D’Tigers,” he noted.

The former Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks head coach brings more than two decades of coaching experience to the Nigerian setup.

“That experience matters greatly,” many basketball observers believe.

Fizdale also emphasized his excitement about working with Nigerian players and building a competitive team capable of challenging internationally.

“There is a lot of talent here,” he added.

The appointment has generated major excitement across Nigerian basketball circles as the federation looks toward a new era.

For Fizdale, the message is clear.

The potential already exists.

The ambition is serious.

And the goal is to build a winning D’Tigers team.

Because successful basketball programs are built on belief, structure, and elite-level experience.
