Nigeria’s Super Eagles experienced both gains and setbacks in points following their March international friendlies, against Iran and Jordan.
Nigeria defeated Iran 2-1 ams drew 2-2 against Jordan, the mixed outcomes ultimately leaving the position of the Super Eagles unchanged in the latest FIFA World Rankings as the retain their 3rd position on the continent and 26th position in the world.
The most significant boost came from the 2-1 victory over Iran national football team, a higher-ranked side.
That result earned Nigeria 5.34 ranking points, highlighting the advantage of beating stronger opposition under FIFA’s Elo-based ranking system.
However, that progress was partially cancelled out by a 2-2 draw against Jordan national football team.
With Jordan ranked considerably lower, the outcome fell below expectations and resulted in a 1.81-point deduction.
In total, Nigeria recorded a modest net gain, but not enough to trigger movement in the global standings.
The Super Eagles remain 26th in the world with 1585.09 points, reflecting stability rather than upward momentum.
Despite the slight fluctuation, the ranking still represents Nigeria’s best position in 16 years, reinforcing the progress made after their third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
On the continental level, Nigeria continue to rank third in Africa behind Morocco national football team and Senegal national football team, maintaining their place among the continent’s elite sides.
