Hon Bako fulfills preelection promises with Kotangora Footballers

Honorable Falal Bako, a member representing Kotangora Constituency at the Niger State House of Assembly has met one of his campaign promises by empowering selected football talents from his area to actualize their dreams of becoming professional footballers.

The boys who were picked from pool of outstanding players in the constituency have been promised to represent Nigeria at the Dana Cup Championship in Denmark next year.

This was announced on Monday after the team from Kotangora played a friendly match with Kogi United Feeders in Lokoja.

Honorable Bako said the talents in his area were needed to be showcased to the world which was why he choose football.
He promised to do more for the youths in the constituency through other means before the expiration of

“The idea was part of fulfilment of my preelection promises to move the careers of footballers in my constituency forward.

“That’s the reason behind this friendly match with Kogi United Feeders and of course to expose the boys as it will interest you to know that this is their first time of playing football outside Kotangora and I’m impressed with how they played irrespective of the result, it showed they have a bright future going forward.

The plan is to nurture them to higher level and see them playing at international levels, this is the first step towards that I want to make sure that it is achieved.

“I still have lots of plans to encourage and empower the youths in my constituency but we are starting with sports, football to be precise which has no bias for races or religion, subsequently I will reeling out other programs.

Earlier, Chairman of Kogi State Football Association, Mallam Isah Suleiman Umar commended the lawmaker for the initiative which he described as laudable and he charged the players not to lose focus on their careers.

In the same vein, African Ambassador of the famous Dana Cup, Abdul Sule announced that the boys from Kotangora will be among the Nigerian representatives at next year’s youth soccer championship in Denmark.

Mallam Sule who is also the Chairman of Kogi United and Confluence Queens however promised to support the team.
