Historic Night as Azam FC Storm CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage After 21 Years!

Tanzanian giants Azam FC have made history after qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup group stage for the first time in 21 years since the competition’s inception in 2004.

The Ice Cream Makers sealed their place in emphatic fashion, demolishing KMKM FC of Zanzibar 7–0 at the Azam Complex Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The result followed their 2–0 first-leg win at the New Amaan Stadium, completing a dominant 9–0 aggregate victory.

Goals rained in from Japhet Kitambala (2), Iddy Seleman (2), Abdul Suleiman ‘Sopu’ (2), and Paschal Msindo (1) — a night to remember for Azam fans across the country.

Head coach Florent Ibenge also etched his name into club history, becoming the first manager ever to guide Azam FC to the group stage of the continental competition.

Adding to the night’s milestones, Paschal Msindo — who had scored in the first leg — continued his fine form, marking his first CAF Confederation Cup goal in style.

The victory not only cements Azam’s place among Africa’s elite clubs but also serves as a powerful statement of intent for the tournament ahead.
