HFN Holds AGM/Congress, adopts New Constitution

The Handball Federation of Nigeria on Friday held her Annual General Meeting/Congress wherein the Congress temporarily adopted its new constitution.

The well attended AGM which saw the Sam Ocheho led HFN board give stewardship in the past year with a vote of confidence passed on it by the congress, ensured that some far reaching decisions including the conditional adoption of the constitution to beat the deadline set by the federal ministry of sports, were taken

The AGM enabled the congress to review its programmes and activities under the Sam Ocheho led board from 2017 to date including competitions attended, qualified and the ones hosted by the federation.

The Federation also presented programmes for the year 2020 to the congress including new competition such as the Sam Ocheho National Handball Championship which is bankroll by the HFN president and the congress approved all.

As regards the temporary approval of the constitution, the congress adopted the constitution conditionally as mandated by the sports ministry deadline of October but set up a 5 man constitution review committee headed by Barrister Mark Jacob to review the constitution and then report back to the congress in view of re-adopting it to replace the former one sent to the ministry of sports

The congress, while commending the president of HFN, Mr Sam Ocheho for his recent visit to the Kwara State deputy governor, mandated him and the board to interface with states to sponsor handball championships.

Meanwhile, the national division one championship will hold from November 13-22 in Kaduna.
